Formentera welcomes back Leonmanso

foto 2021 leonmansoThe Formentera Department of Culture reports that from 8.00pm on Friday 9 April, Leonmanso will give a free concert in the courtyard of Centre Antoni Tur “Gabrielet”. Capacity is limited and seats can be reserved by emailing reserves@conselldeformentera.cat before Thursday 8 April at 10.00am.

Culture chief Susana Labrador said the concert was part of programming around this year’s Balearic Islands Day (Dia de les Illes Balears) — a bill that ultimately happened today after the pandemic forced its postponement in March. Complete safety protocol will be in force during the concert.

Llure Marquès is Leonmanso. He started composing his own songs more than 15 years ago. On the strength of a demo, he was named finalist in contemporary rock and Catalan creativity for IB3’s Rec-Play competition in 2008. There, a second-round win scored him the chance to record his first album, Rinosaure. Quim Torres (Delèn) was at the controls for a follow-up, Jardins de brutes basses (2014), while a third effort, 2018’s Escolta com sona es teu pols, was an album of absolute essentials.

Leonmanso is the musician you would invite to your birthday party, or when you’re making dinner, or before turning in for the day: in fact, he’d pen a song for the occasion. He sings it all, and sings for everyone. And that might be why sometimes, in the words of his producer, the whole world seems like a Leonmanso song —  and not the other way around.
